How to Turn Your Dreams Into Reality

The My Marketability blog just reached 100 posts within one year and I am so excited to reflect on how my business has grown! What I’ve learned along the way: inspiration leads to motivation, which results in action.

Key message: staying inspired is a surefire way to achieve your dreams faster. But, the market sometimes moves faster than inspiration can fuel you.

Here are my five strategies to help you stay inspired and turn your dreams into reality!

1. Create a vision board and a bucket list.

A vision board is essentially a visual bucket list. It contains quotes, magazine clippings, and images that act as constant reminders of your dreams while providing some much-needed motivation. My top tip: buy a cork board and search Pinterest to find some awesome content to put on it. Then, display your vision board above your desk at home.

While you’re at it, I challenge you to create a bucket list of five things you want to accomplish during the next week, month, and year. For best results, make sure your weekly and monthly goals support your yearly goal! This will help you stay on task and feel proud of yourself when you finally cross an action item off the list. For example, this year my two dreams were to write a book and create an online job search program. Because I was focused and motivated, I just finished the book and am in the process of developing the program! Stay tuned for more updates on l

2. Have a purpose.

Your purpose is your ‘why’. Why do you want something? Why are you the best candidate? Why can you provide a better product or service? What type of impact do you want to make in this world?

When you get clear on why you want to do what you do, you’ll create some amazing internal motivation that will get you excited and inspire action. You will have the motivation to turn your dreams into reality because you’re more confident, clear, and compelling with your messaging.

3. Visualize success and set your intentions.

It sounds fluffy, but it works. Key message: when you change the way you see things, the thing you’re seeing also changes. Your perceptions have an often underestimated impact on both your quality of life and potential. Visualizing your success is an amazing way to set your intentions towards achieving your goals.

4. Write daily affirmations.

These are brief statements that outline your goals for the day and why you’re going to achieve them. If you’re heading into an interview, write 10 affirmations on why you’re the best candidate. If you’re nervous about a networking event, shortlist 5 reasons why you’re going to succeed. Own your greatness to motivate yourself to make an impact!

5. Share your dreams with others.

It’s tough to stay accountable when you’re the only one who knows what your goals are. My top tip: talk about your goals and dreams as much as possible to generate interest and motivate yourself to actually complete them. Another amazing way to stay on task is to try and find someone in the same situation as you so that you can keep each other accountable. Having an accountability partner to check up on you can be critical to your success!

What about you? What is your success story, and how did you turn your dreams into reality? If you haven’t yet created your impact yet, let me know what some of your strategies are to stay motivated!
